I like having a cap, but it feels too low. Maybe they could implement a coaching slider cap setting. I certainly feel lvl 50 is problematic for a couple reasons. First the whole system is designed to incentivize you to progress as you go, but by the time you meet criteria to unlock the top tiers you are unlikely to have points to spend on them.
I saw an analysis that there are around 2,600 points worth of upgrades but we only get 495 points to spend over the life of the coach (5 starting plus 49 upgrades at 10 points) . I do like that it forces you to pick. Perhaps generalize in multi-positional strength or only highly focus on one or two positions. Maxing out two positions uses almost all of your points though, so if I want to develop players I have no ability to execute elsewhere?
The concept of capping sounds great, but the allotted points are overly restrictive at the moment.
Ultimately agree with another poster that it deprioritizes your incentive to continue playing An existing dynasty, especially if you ran into this unexpectedly. I think increasing to lvl 99 would get us to around 985 points which still limits you to a max of 1/3 of the abilities which feels more reasonable. It also would require you to level up longer to max which would make it more likelu youre still improving when Program Builder/CEO comes around. Another approach they could just increase to 20 points per upgrade, but again you level up too fast for this to be good (ie you may still burn through your points before you unlock top tiers). I got to lvl 14 in first season with cupcake simming almost every game on slower coach progression.
My other complaint on this is it does not allow you to reallocate, so if you do what makes sense as you go and then realize you've maxed you can't reallocate. I feel like at worst every level after that allows you to reallocate some points. As I go on in my career I should evolve, not stagnate. I get that maybe my brain becomes too full to hold more, but then maybe I'm given the opportunity to evolve with the times. (Frankly this is more of a complaint due to how quickly you can max out as is.)
