CFB 27 Needs Visual Diversity & Customization to Prevent Burnout
I’ve put 1,600+ hours into EA Sports College Football 25 / 26.
This isn’t a complaint post. I genuinely enjoy the game. The gameplay foundation is solid.
But the biggest reason long-term players are burning out isn’t difficulty or recruiting — it’s repetition.
The Core Problem: Players All Look the Same
After 3–4 dynasty seasons:
- There are maybe 5 body templates for 85 players.
- A 6’2 230 LB looks almost identical to a 6’2 285 DL.
- Weight barely affects visual mass.
- Most recruits blend together by Year 3.
That kills immersion.
Football is identity-driven. The big power back, the long skinny receiver, the thick nose tackle — those visuals matter.
We need:
- True body archetypes (lean, stocky, heavy mass, long frame, power build)
- Weight-based scaling that changes shoulders, legs, and trunk size
- Position-based body distribution (240 RB ≠ 240 OLB visually)
Equipment Customization Is Too Limited
The gear options feel recycled from older EA football titles.
RTG and Dynasty both suffer from:
- Limited sleeve variations
- No single leg sleeve option
- Limited undershirt layering
- Minimal arm tape combos
- Few unique visual combinations
For a sport built on swagger and personality, customization is shallow.
Create-a-Recruit (Dynasty Only)
Not rating editing.
Just:
- Custom appearance
- Custom body type
- Full gear freedom
- Hometown + archetype selection
Attachment increases immersion. When you create a player, you stay invested longer.
Why This Matters
Gameplay polish is important.
But visual diversity and customization are what keep people locked in past Year 4.
Right now burnout comes from repetition — not lack of love for college football.
CFB 27 doesn’t need a new engine.
It needs more personality.
Respectfully — the foundation is strong.
Now it needs depth.
