Transfer Portal Logic Needs Serious Fixing
Listen, I fully understand that this will probably fall on deaf ears. But, might as well. The way this game has teams recruit in the transfer portal makes absolutely zero sense.
The most obvious one is at the QB position. I did a dynasty save where the highest rated QB in the portal was Avery Johnson (hasn’t played well in real life but is high OVR in the game). Not a single school offered him and he ended up not signing and disappearing from the game by season 2. I’m sorry? You’re telling me not a single school wants the highest rated QB in the portal???
These guys starting at a top 8 or top 5 needs to be removed. Or at the very least become dynamic if they don’t receive any offers.
I believe the next highest rated was Devon Dampier from Utah. He ended up signing with Texas. Makes sense, but the only issue is Arch was still there. So in year 2, they had 95 OVR Arch and 92 OVR Dampier as their QB’s. That is not the only example I could provide and it happens at every position. The top schools hoard all of the talent and stash fantastic players on their bench.
I don’t need to tell you how unrealistic that is. A QB of his level would NEVER transfer to a school with an established starter. EVERY SINGLE RISING JUNIOR AND SENIOR SHOULD HAVE A PLAYING TIME DEALBREAKER. AT EVERY POSITION BUT ESPECIALLY QB. And the game should be able to craft an interest list based off who will be on the roster the next year. A rising senior QB transferring would never transfer to Texas or Alabama knowing that Arch or Ty Simpson were still on the roster. Absolutely kills the realism.
Now, if Texas were to bring in an 80 OVR sophomore or something to back up Arch, THAT would make sense. But it seems every team just has the logic of “get the best player possible” and the players have no concept of if they’ll play or just ride the bench at a 90+ overall.
