Uneven conference schedules

In my dynasty, many teams with 9 game conference schedules are playing 6 home/3 away or vice versa, instead of 5 home/4 away or vice versa. Same goes with 8 team conference schedules where it's something other than 4 home/4 away. Is the protected opponents feature screwing things up? Right now I have 2 protected opponents in the Big 10, ACC, and SEC and 1 protected opponent in the Big 12. Attached a generated schedule for an example.

Edit: I noticed that yes, protected opponents is causing uneven conference schedules in every instance except for 1 protected opponent with an odd number of conference games. Having an even number of conference games or having 2 protected opponents will cause unbalanced conference schedules in terms of home and away games.
