Takeoff not working

I created a backfield threat RB with the thought of having a Speedster Wr in HB form. However, after finally getting takeoff and upgrading up to gold, I am unable to activate the ability. I’ve lined him up in 5 wide settings and not getting pressed and it still doesn’t activate. Disappointing as without takeoff, the backfield threat doesn’t have anything special about it and is useless in RTG. Anyone have tips on what I could be doing wrong?
