Hi... I tried this method.... It didn't work my laptop still has my desktop flashing on the bottom half of the screen.... Don't know why

Looks to me like EA has dusted their hands of this incredible game.
Having mentioned issues, have installed patch, reconfigured compatibility modes and still incredibly laggy.
Can just make it into a skirmish, but as soon as the troops start shuffling their feet it comes to a standstill.
Have to do a hard reset.
Come on EA, sort it out!
Microsoft are all over it with Age of Empires 2, get with the program and support some of your original gamers!
