Command & Conquer Generals requiring DirectX 8.1? Wont Run

Command & Conquer Generals wont launch from the EA App.  It says I need DirectX 8.1 or later.

I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, checked my DirectX and ran the compatibility troubleshooter for older programs.

Laptop is running Windows 11.

Looking for a solution or suggestions to fix?  Thanks

    GenPatcher fixes this issue. Download it, run it, click Apply Fixes, and your game will work.

    The issue is that the game does not install. See screenshot attached. It seems there is an issue with directX.  

    dxdiag shows DirectX 12

    Any suggestions?
