Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour issues with windows 7

Hi,

I have the original C&C Generals Deluxe Edition from 2003 and when I install it on my windows 7 computer. I have the original disk and codes so I believe should work fine. Well when I install the game and switch to run in XP SP3 and or SP2 the game dose not start up. So i did googled this issue and found that the options.ini is missing so I tried that and it work. But, Then when I start to play the game within 30 seconds or less my base automaticly is destoryed and won't let me play. Please help me on this.

Thank you.

  • Hmm. That's an issue with the copy protection. It's normally fixed by running the game in administrator mode I think.

From what I remember, the copy protection works by taking a hardware snapshot on install, and comparing that to the current system on startup to ensure the game isn't copied to another PC after install. However, the lack of administrator mode means the game isn't given access to those system details it's trying to check; the game predates modern user account control.
