Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight registration code issues

I donwloaded C&C 4 again to play it and i get to the registration code section and it keep giving me " Gerenral System Error" every time i hit enter after imputing my code. and its all correct since i just copy and paste from steam. so i'm not sure what to do to be able to get my game running again.
