We have been trying out various combinations and to play gdi air only, you have to hope the opponent doesn't have any heavy infantry or you may as well quit.
It is possible to effectively play air only with NOD but near impossible with gdi, why there are 3 units doing the same 1 job is a joke.
I'm not entirely sure what you are suggesting. At first you complain about how a (50+)30 tib talon can't take out a (100+)120 tib tech infantry that is strong against air?
Isn't that the same thing as complaining that a pitbull can't take out a mammoth tank?
Anyways, don't discount the drone swarms, they are very good against infantry, even laser/rocket squads when you pair them up, and their mobility and speed allows you to. Mohawks and orcas allow you to really shut down enemy war factory units, and hammerheads with talon support can easily overcome most enemy air units, especially with liang repair or strongarm turret support. Then finally bring out orca bombers to just take out all infantry and vehciles and you are golden. Minus tech units of course, but aggro decks have always been weak to tech builds.
Of course air splash will probably always be stronger than all air, which is the same for all barracks or all infantry builds. That is the point of mixing unit types, you force them to build other units than 1 unit that is strong against your whole army.

What I'm suggesting and you seem to be missing is that if you want to field an air only gdi army there is no heavy infantry counter.
We have experimented within a team battle and the Talon just doesn't cut it and as the main anti infantry unit. We launched a 3 Talon attack, 2 talons and a kodiak and 2 talons and a bomber...all were taken out by 1 unit of zone Troopers.
I would be more than happy with a 60 tib talon cost if they were effective against heavy infantry...cyborgs etc..
The comparison given doesn't really add up as there are other ground units you could use but nothing with air.
You should be able to field any army even just infantry based although I accept main armies are if mixed units.
A possible suggestion is to add an anti infsntty element to the Mohawk.

Next time try a basilisk, good luck...
