HELP!: RA2 & YR won't launch on Windows 10, fix?

I recently shelled out for the C&C Ultimate Edition as I wanted to play RA2 & YR (as well as all the other awesome titles included). Having installed the game onto my laptop, I'm having difficulty actually launching the thing: I go to launch the game from the desktop shortcut and a popup appears showing RA2 & YR, I click on RA2/YR to launch the game and nothing happens, the popup disappears and I'm left wondering if I've actually clicked anything at all. I have tried launching from the file destination, reparing the game through origin, running in compatibility mode (from Win 98 all the way through Vista), changing the game configuration (as many different options I could find in the forums forums), restarting my computer, reinstalling RA2 & YR, reinstalling Origin. No success! Is there something I'm missing?

I've downloaded other titles from the C&C UE and had no issues launching those.

I'm using a Dell XPS 13 9350; Win 10 Home, Intel i7 (Skylake), Iris 540. (If this info helps?)

Huh. So it just doesn't seem to respond at all, then? Very peculiar.

There's an alternative to the official launchers, created by Bibber. Maybe those will help?

    For the rest...

Command & Conquer 1, Red Alert 1 and Tiberian Sun have all been upgraded with community-created unofficial patches that fix a lot of their bugs and compatibility problems. For Red Alert 2 there's a more general patch that solves a lot of its graphics problems. You can find them here:

    Command & Conquer 1:

    Red Alert 1:

    Tiberian Sun:

    Red Alert 2:

    • The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve several graphics issues in the game. You could try if it helps you out.
Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and try again

@KirovCZVery nice that you're comparing me to a god, but just so you know, I've never made a tree :P But I just provided you with the same workaround-instructions I did before, so please next time follow the instructions correctly that I send through a link to avoid all this confusion next time haha.

Your second comment now makes me feel like a fallen god, a relic of the past ☹️ Haha, which CNC-game do you encounter this error with? And can you please describe the problem/symptoms in much more detail? What are the specifications/hardware of your PC/laptop?

Btw, sorry for the late answer; had a bizzy week with exams and hallmates 🙂

@mrtnptrs Red Alert 2, I tried the 1st mission of the Allied campaign, and while destroying the soviet base the game has a lag, my game freezes, I still can hear the sounds normally, I can command the units but my screen is frozen.
I'll find out how I do that, and I'll send you the specs
