Probably they reset the event and play it a second time? Doesn't make much sense to have that leaderboard then, does it.

Nono if you reset the event your scoreboard gets reset, so by just resetting this won't work. I've heard it has something to do with disconnecting, but I don't know how exactly this works.
Well that must be a bug then. If you are never supposed to have more than 10 points, there must be some error in the game if it shows more than 10 points for some people.
Should be disconnected. You lost won’t count until the game ends if you disconnected. In this case you are free to start another game and disconnect and repeat…
Keep doing this until the first 10 game finishes, then you are not allowed to enter. But you have played more than 10 games.

It should be quite easy to prevent a player from starting a new game, when the old game (the one that he left) is not finished yet. Just block them from starting another battle until the end result of the previous game has been reported to the server (by the other player's client).
Maybe also allow the player to re-enter the old game

This is already possible. I have seen people disconnect from a game, and later re-connect. Maybe they were sitting in a tram, driving through a tunnel or something like that.
I would say this is cheating because it’s said you can only play 10 but you play more than 10 by utilizing some bug. These people should be punished/banned or it’s not fair to other players.
Playing more matches than you should clearly give you more advantages in other events, but not this unrank event.
It's not considered cheating or EA would have done something, as the top players openly talk about it. All you do is quit the game when you're guaranteed to win and join a new game and technically you could play 20 games instead of 10.
It does become cheating though when people make pacts to let the other guy win so they can beat the record. This does happen, not too difficult to do either in tiberium league when you've probably played the same people over and over and they talk to each other.

This is very clearly a bug in the software. Look, even a person with heavy brain damage will admit that when you are supposed to play (up to) ten games in an event, that there should not be more than ten. It is an upper boundary. Period.
I don't even know what's to argue here. This is a bug, so it needs to be fixed.
