Re: * SCARABS ARE TOO CHEAP AND TOO POWERFUL.

I know you hate me MarineCpl but it does sound like you could learn a few things about scarabs from my guide. But I understand you not wanting to do so because of your prejudice. So I'll go over some very basic ways to counter scarabs:

I know you mentioned they got there faster than your lasers could counter them, this to me sounds like you are trying to out-trade them with no scouting units. Valid tactic, but this is for digging them out, not stopping them. The easiest way to stop them is keeping an anti-infantry unit close by and when the scarab moves, then you blast them to bits. Even if you mis-time and allow them to set up, your anti-inf unit should still blast 1 and then die to the other which is a decent enough trade.

to dig out a scarab the best way; 2nd method is involving your lasers, move your laser in first and right after that move in your anti-infantry unit a split second after giving the move order for your lasers. The lasers will trigger the first scarab, and the 2nd one will have to wait for the attack to complete. This gives you enough time for your anti-infantry unit to set up and shoot the 2nd scarab. Repeat as necessary.

Next is a couple hero power tricks:

With seth, you can drill pod behind the scarab (works best if there is only 1 left) and trigger them. The scarab will launch and kill the drill pod, but the first will be on their side allowing you to secure the pad easier, and gives you a few seconds of fire to cover you from reinforcing units. Strongarms turret is the bane of scarabs. 40 tib and it tanks the first and kills the second before dying to the flames shortly after. Works great when they only have a scarab holding a pad instantly negating it to them. Little more expensive, but if you can chem spray a unit beside a scarab then catalyst missile it, the explosion should take out the scarabs as well. Ion cannons are ion cannons, no explanation needed. Liang's drone is probably one of the more unique solutions. Since it is flying, you can deploy it, and fly over an enemy unit that is beside a scarab and get the scarab to kill both units. Very satisfying and almost impossible to stop. Speaking of...

The final way to really mess with scarab users is to send a flying unit over their ground unit beside a scarab, or a ground unit under their flying unit beside a scarab. So satisfying watching their unit take out one of their own.

So there ya have it. Your units are faster, and more than capable of taking out aggressive scarabs with no damage to yourself. So you should really never lose a harvester to a scarab squad. But accidents happen, and learning new strats can be rough. I recommend getting someone in your alliance to play scarabs against you so that you don't have to learn tricks while under live fire. Best of luck!

  • And I don't hate you Battalia. I'm just tired of you naysaying everything and responding to every thread like you are a developer or something.

hmmm, personally I don't like drones in that list. your first drone is 70 tib which is crazy expensive, especially since you are trying to hit tech as fast as possible. Not sure what commander you use, but perhaps you should give snipers a try instead of drones. This would not only give you a very hard counter to scarabs, they actually work well with shock/rocket support.

Lastly, while I understand people like the holy trinity of titan/wolverine/zones I personally think wolverines don't bring enough to the table in that deck. If I was to design that deck, I'd go...

    Rockets/Snipers/Wardogs/Pitbull/Titan/Sandstorm

Open harv, go into wardogs, and counter their first unit, so either pitbull or another wardog if they go barracks. Then once you are confidant they can't harm your harvs, get out the 2nd harv while keeping the pads neutral with the war dogs. If they go too heavy into infantry, then you pop your barracks and get snipers with wardog blockers, and if they go heavy into WF then you pop your barracks and get rockets. End game is titan to counter vehicles, sandstorm to counter air and snipers to counter any rocket/jjt spam as well as knock out cyborgs and zone troopers.

But I don't really play tech, so add a little salt =p

I don't naysay on everything, just the silly things like that one guy asking for GDI to get buffed when they already dominate the meta high up, or punisherTRD and his multi-account infantyman (but don't tell him I know 😉 ). Like I said many times, there are plenty of things that rivals can do better. Alliances, treatment of free to play players, and a couple other quality of life changes. But making strong units stronger to me doesn't make sense just because that is the unit/playstyle that person prefers. But hey, I'm human too, and just as prone to mistakes. Gotta take the good with the bad.
  • i totally disagree nerfing scarab, this unit absolutely easy to counter. It is the player weak strategy make them lost the match...not the scarab
