Re: C&C as Freeware?
As Plokite said, the site is no longer up, but back then we were assured that even if they stopped hosting them, the games remained freeware:
Even though the archived version Plokite linked to should still work, there's not much use in messing around with the original versions they released back then: the CD installers of C&C1 and RA1 will simply not run at all on 64-bit systems (since they're 16-bit Windows applications), the TS pack is just a zipped folder of a First Decade install of the game with the DRM removed, which might not work right when not extracted in the exact same folder, C&C1 can't be launched without an official hotfix that disables its network play, and the games generally suffer from a load of compatibility-related problems for which you'll need unofficial patches anyway.
So you're really much better off installing the full fan patch packs. These patches also do a whole bunch of extra bug fixes, and add a load of optional upgrades, like higher resolutions for C&C1 and RA1. You can find them here:
Command & Conquer 1:
- Complete No-CD game installation pack (v1.06c r3, no videos, all music included) (also contains bonus missions originally exclusive to the Playstation and Nintendo 64 versions of the game)
- English videos pack (French and German video packs are also available on the website)

Tiberian Sun:
- Full game (scroll down to "single player, patches, linux and mac" and select "Single Player Campaign (Windows)" in the dropdown)
