This has just happened to me, too - yesterday I was playing it, using custom maps, and today - following an update that I couldn't reject - all the saved data and custom maps are gone. Eternally grateful to anyone who could resolve this!

This might be related to a recent change to the names for save folders. You should be able to access your existing saves by changing the names of the following folders:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Command and Conquer 3 Kanes Wrath
C:\Users\<user name>\SavedGames\Command and Conquer 3 Kanes Wrath
C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Command and Conquer 3 Kanes Wrath/Profiles

a)Why is this ancient game being updated (it's stable)?
b)why didn't I get a choice on whether or not to update?
