Registry is corrupt and has been altered

How to fix:

1. Open the Registry Editor by typing "regedit" at the bottom of the start menu, in the search box ( windows 7)
2. navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Generals]-> ergc
3. check that your product key is shown there as a value for REG_SZ
4. copy and paste your product key to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour -> ergc

tip: you can get your product key by opening up Origin -> My Games -> Generals -> info window

[Windows 7 64-bit] Zero Hour crashing to desktop after playing a couple of minutes, error message "Serious Error"
