Red Alert 2 Launch Problems
This is an issue related to user rights, if I remember correctly. Make sure to run the game as administrator, and if that doesn't help, try reinstalling the game.
The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve the "black screen" issue for many people.
Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.There are tons of solutions around this place. The DDWrapper mentioned above probably resolves that issue too. No use whining at EA though; those handling the tech support here can hardly be held accountable for the management. There's a reason I do tech support here as volunteer; EA simply doesn't have anyone with C&C games expertise in their employ anymore, especially when it comes to the classics.
