Red Alert 2 Main Executable has stopped working.

Firs of all I apologize if I am reposting something that has been addressed before - I searched through the first five pages and found no problems similar to mine.

I recently bought the Command and Conquer Ultimate Edition on Origin and I excited installed Red Alert 2. I started playing and everything was going great then all of a sudden my game would freeze for half a second and crash. Then an error message would pop up saying, "Red Alert 2 Main Executable has stopped working." This crash happens frequently and I have no idea how to fix it.

Things I have tried:

  • Reinstalling the game.
  • Running the game as administrator.
  • Going into the directory and running all .exe compatible with Windows XP.
  • I have also change all .exe files to run as administrator manually.

My system specs:

CPU:  AMD Phenom II X4 965

GPU: Radeon HD 6970

I also have 12 GB of RAM

    Hi,

    I just bought a new PC ( Acer Aspire  amd a10 7800 quad - amd radeon r7240) and my old games of red alert 2 , yri 's revenge and civilization 4 do'nt work any more. Civilization 4 doesn't install and RA2 installs but it freezes during the game and ' main execut doens't react any more'.

    Does the new PC run Windows 8.1? You may need to run the mentioned games in an earlier OS compatibility mode.

    I would try to change your compatability to win xp sp3, run as admin, reduce color to 16 bit, if that dont work try vista sp 1 and 8 bit color
