Red Alert 3 Uprising does not work

Hi, Last Saturday I redeemed a code for the C&C Ultimate Collection. After a long download, I tried to run the game yesterday. The only thing I see is briefly an EA window which I don't even get the time to read it/look at, and then the launcher crashes, with Activation.dll as the module causing it. I tried using the "fixed" launchers from the C&C forum, but they all still generate the same issue. As I wasn't too happy to be bound to something like Origin to play a singleplayer game, this makes it even more annoying. I only tried Red Alert 3 up to now, but I doubt the others will work. Using the latest version of Origin and Red Alert 3 (Uprising) on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Hopefully you can help me fix it so I can at least play this game. Sincerely, Aäron

For some reason it just runs fine now, I don't know what caused it to function properly.

This topic can be closed/removed/marked as solved. Thank you.

  • Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising wont start, it just shows the box where it says it will start the game, and then nothing happens. I have reinstalled both origin and the game several times. Updated and looked into your troubleshooters, but with no results☹️~

And my problem wont just go away.

    What can I do ?

Try running it as administrator by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" if it didn't run as admin already. Running it as admin from install to playing games might fix the problem. Also, update everything (Origin and the game). Do a reboot after all installs and updates, since it magically started working after a reboot, despite nothing asking for a reboot. Post here what you find, you might discover something I didn't see. ~Zicxynum
  • I have already done that. This is what bothers me. When you have done the following:

     - Reinstalled origin

     - Reinstalled the game

     - Run as admin

     - Updated windows with servicepack 1

...And it still doesnt work. If at least I knew what the problem is, I could spend some time on the internet trying to find a soliution.

So my new question is. What is this problem related to ?

  • I got a copy of Red Alert 3 Uprising as well, and I cannot get it to work right either.  I have the program set to run as administrator, but when I try to play the game, it either loads into a black screen and does nothing, or when it does load, I can't change the resolution and get it to stay at the size I want it to.  When I try to confirm the resolution I want, the screen goes black until after the timer for saying yes or no to changes is done, the resets to the default.  This is my second time installing it do to Origin's incompetent customer service.

I'm sorry, but there is no clear solution to this. It started working for some reason, but I do not know why. I tried and tried, nothing worked. Then after I left it for 5 days and thought "lets try it again" it worked magically. I do not know what I did right, it somehow started working. Perhaps do the same, maybe it's something about an activation delay, I don't know.

    Good luck.

    = Working, in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 =

The integration with Origin sounds broken.

The workaround, that actually worked to me is this:

1- write down the full path of game

    2- open a cmd.exe

    3- type: "subst X: <gamepath>"

                - replace X: by any free drive letter in your system

                - replace <gamepath> by your game path install

4- open windows explorer, navigate to x: drive, and execute the ra3ep1.exe

You dont need to do any setting in file properties/compatibility menu. The game runs fine as default.

  • I know its an old post but....I had this on origin for ages n it ran just fine on my old system win 7 and new one win 8 on instal......but for whatever reason the gaming gods deemed nessicary, it just stoped, started as not being playable (play was grayed) even tho it was DLed n installed.....a simple restart of origin fixed that, but now even tho it makes the play button functional, the game will not start
