This used to be how the game worked. However this was due to a bug which was fixed. Now attacks cannot be stopped unless you change targets. They are going to consider if this requires any further balancing, but for now, this is intended.

Yes, I know that this is intended, I still wonder if the developers could consider some changes to the tank attack range.
Attack mechanic should be changed to something that would make sense for them to be 1 hex range fighters and not as currently stands at 2(almost 3) hex, if they got the lock on at 1 hex range.
- BattaIia7 years agoSeasoned AceYea, in the C&C universe this is a common theme however. Take the Kane obelisk for example, if you get within 2 range, it will begin to warm up. Even if you move 3 even 4 range from the tower, as long as it still has sight, it will fire and hit the target.
I think the only exception currently in the game is the disruptor tank who will shoot and you can see the beam hit the target, but it will not do damage if the target is beyond 2 range.- 7 years ago
Disruptor launches multiple shots per beam. So when you move out of range, the subsequent shots aren't gonna fire but the beam animation still misleadingly plays for a fixed amount of time.
