Hi, I have been searching the internet for hours but I can not find a solution for this.I recently purchased C&C The Ultimate Collection on Origin, I only installed Tiberian Sun as this is the only one I want to play at the moment. Download and installation all went ok with no problems. However when I go to play the game it will play the intro video then it will give me the option to choose between Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, when I click Tiberian Sun it takes me to the menu but no matter what option I choose on the menu the game doesn't load anything.Is there a way to fix this? I do have more than the minimum specs for the game and I am running Windows 8, I have tried every compatible mode too. If there is not a fix does anyone know how I would go about getting a refund?Thank you for any help.

Hi there.I know I'm a bit late to the party, but wanted to post an expanded solution (based on an answer given by pcobb23 in another forum) in case anyone else had this (very frustrating) problem. I was having the exact same issues as the above posts on my Win8.1 64bit machine, using an Origin digital download of the game (as part of a C&C multi-pack). I was able to successfully resolve the issue the following way:SOLUTION:Step 1. Find your Tiberian Sun install directory in Program Files ...which was in my case "Origin Games", (but others may have to look in "Westwood Studios", "EA Games" or similar if you've stumbled upon this support thread from a search engine).Step 2. Right click on "Game.exe" application, and select properties.Step 3. In the Compatibility tab, check the box "Run this program in compatabilty mode for:"Step 4. Select a compatibility mode*. In my case, Windows XP (Service Pack 3) is working.Step 5. Check the box which says "Reduce Color Mode", then set the color mode to 16-bit color.Step 6. Also check the box that says "Run this program as an admistrator". Click apply and then ok.Then...Step 7. Download the below .ZIP patch file (posted by some legend from C&C Communications Centre fan forum) and simply extract the files directly into the Tiberian Sun install folder (from Step 1).http://tore.cnc-comm.com/TS_Win8fix.zip(I have checked the patch, it contains no malware.)*I played around with every compatibility setting until I found one that worked... in my case it was Win XP (Service Pack 3), but I have read other forums suggesting WinXP SP2 and Win7.... if not getting the results you want, keep trying new compatibility settings! Note, as mentioned by an EA mod in another thread, this isn't an official EA patch, so he recommended backing up before trying it out.Really hope this helps someone out there!

I am also having this problem. I am running windows 8. Makes no difference if you run it in compatibility mode.Any help??

This is horrendous, EA where are you?

I have had a little play around to see if I could solve this but I am getting no where. I have noticed that when I am at the menu if I click Campaign or Skirmish, then hit the enter key it starts the game. This still isn't good enough though because once I am in the game as soon as I try to click the Option button at the top of the screen it freezes!

Right ok, I tried everything you suggested and it has not resolved it.

When I try compatibility mode 98 or 95 the game doesn't even load up, it just pops up origin.

Following the directx update has not solved the issue with me either.

I see. For compatibility mode, try windows 7 if you haven't already.

Also, what sort of graphics cards are you using? If you're using a laptop, can you switch them off/swap to low-power mode?

Compatability mode 7 doesn't work either.

I am on a laptop and my graphics card is Intergrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. What do you mean by switch them off or low power mode? If there was a problem with my grapics card wouldn't it effect the whole game not just the menu?

On some laptops, the power-hungry graphics card can be disabled to allow better battery life. As Tiberian Sun doesn't exactly need a full modern rig, it might be worth setting it to a low power mode. Alternately, double checking that it's in high-power mode may also help. In some games, if you have card issues it will make it to the title and only fail when it's actively trying to render the game. Before this point it's playing videos and displaying menus, which don't have the same demand.

I've got an AMD RADEON HD8670M.
Switched graphics card off - menu still goes blank when skirmish is selected. Freezes when any other is selected.
Switched to full power - same issue.

Ok I get what you mean now, I tried that and still does the same issue with the menu.

Ok then, at least that's ruled out.

Just to double check, be sure to have manually updated your drivers through the Radeon website, as opposed to letting drivers auto-update.

As with any unofficial fix, be sure to scan and make a backup first
