Just found this.
EXACTLY the same thing happened to me. I tried all sorts of stuff, but had to start a new game.
After trying every trick in the book that big door to fly out of was closed, permanently.
I think (unless someone really clever knows the answer) that this is a very specific bug that happens only when the actions that WE BOTH did occur. I doubt many folks do exactly what we did in the exact order so I put it down to one of those things rare things that isn't picked up by play testers.
Yeah, I was annoyed, but swallowed it and of course didn't do that next time. Everything worked.
I think we both should get a get a VERY SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT for managing to permanently lock that hanger bay door. 🎂
Saddly it means being locked forever up to that point. Worse every monster and every secret (only up to that point) will have been killed, or found many times over.
When I finally gave up and started a new game I was like a super Mutant killer. 😬 I knew exactly when, where and how to kill everthing after repeating time and time again, before giving up and restarting a new game. 💔
Ironically, I easily opened the big door. So happy! Yes!! Then died a few seconds later in a very careless way. Of course the game saved properly so simply reloaded and tried the "new bit," again. Died again too, just not quite so quickly. (Ran out of O2).
