is what I get when starting the game from the origin or my computer, as I fix this?
If the driver reinstall didn't have any effect, check your power settings to ensure that the game is using the relevant GPU and not reverting to onboard graphics.
A 650 should be fine, but if it's not being utilized that could be troublesome.
i keep getting unable to inititialize display hardware anyone know a fix ? ive tried uninstalling the drivers but same problem

i have a gtx 650 it should work i checked on system requirments lab my friend has same set up as me and it works for him, so its not gpu

I just downloaded this game and was getting the "Failed to initialize display hardware" error. I was browsing through some of the solutions when I realized that for some reason there was not settings.txt file for the game in the appropriate location. Once I created the settings.txt file in the appropriate folders (had to create the Electronic Arts and Dead Space folders) the game fired right up.
Go to:
Users/"your user name"/AppData/Local/Electronic Arts/Dead Space
and created a settings.txt file
I found one someone had shared and used that to get my game started:
