I may have found a Work Around, and it would be great if they could give us the "Command Line Arguments" to use inside Origin to see the Game to "Windowed Mode"
So, as mentioned before. if I open another window, like a NotePad window, and make it really small, but as the ACTIVE WINDOW (the window with focus)
-- then I can see the menu and motion in the Dragon Age window behind it.
-- I can also manipulate the menu, but, as soon as I click on the menu in DA (Dragon Age) the screen goes black again
if I switch back (ALT-TAB) to my mini notepad window, then I can again see the DA window and my click was registered.
so I very slowly, changed the the settings from "Full Screen" to "Windowed" and slowly upded the resolution to my 1920x1080 (1 click, alt-tab at a time - to the left arrow to go up)
then I changed the graphic settings to LOW (not auto).
when I reloaded the game (Task Manager- End Task), the game was working..
then I had to push my luck and try setting the Graphics Back to AUTO -- it froze after that.
REMEMBER, before you END TASK the window, you must hit "BACK" in the menu in order to "APPLY" the changes, then you can END TASK.
so, if you make the following changes it should work?
-Windowed
- Match your resolution, but this may not be needed, because, even when I did this the window was smaller, but allowed me to drag the corner out to make it bigger
- Graphics to LOW.

OK. so it reloaded, needed 60 seconds to waiver and look like it might crash, but it didn't - so. the Menu Screen is now working !
again, command line argument to change from FULLSCREEN to WINDOWED would likely make this easier for many.
-I'm going to try play the game now. fingers crossed
LOL,
when I backed out of the menu after verifying my changes had held. the main menu froze. /sigh.
maybe a reload and right into the game? but, I'm scared to make any progress with this kind of critical instability.

also, of note,
when the menu freezes, it locks my cursor up along all of my windows for about 5 seconds. (ie, couldn't type here, but could change Chrome Tabs)
Threading issue?

Entering 'windowed=true' in command line seems to force windows for me.

So,
I was able to just start the Single player and play for about 30 minutes.
once it was loaded it was fine (fun and beautiful)
so even on Auto graphics it was great once in game
i made and customized the character, and did the dragonagekeep thing and back, and completed meeting my first group.
so, it seems, as long as its in WINDOWED mode and you don't play with the menu too much, you can play just fine.
great looking game. will play a lot more later!

@Dephyant Thanks for the heads up.
What happens if you manually force the game into windowed mode? You can do so as follows:
- Close the game
- Go to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save\
- Make a backup copy of the ProfileOptions_profile file.
- Now edit the original file with WordPad (and make sure not the change the encoding) by set the following variables:
GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 0 GstRender.FullscreenMode 1 GstRender.FullscreenScreen 0
Save the file and start the game again.
Let me know how you get on afterwards.
Cheers,
Nils
P.S.: A copy of your Dxdiag would be useful for us as well. To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, please follow the steps below:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
2. You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
3. Type dxdiag in the text field
4. Click OK
5. If your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows, click the button Run 64-bit DXDIAG (see screenshot below)
6. If your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows, that button will not be available
7. Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
8. Save this text file to your Desktop if possible
9. Open the text file, select all the text inside (Ctrl + A) and copy it (Ctrl +C).
10. Go to http://hastebin.com/, paste the contents of your DXDiag inside (Ctrl+V) and click Save on the webpage (Ctrl+S).
11. Copy the link of the page in your post, along with a precise description of your issue.- 11 years ago
will try that now, but to answer your question
when the DA menu is set to FULLSCREEN (as default when installed)
I tried it in fullscreen, in windowed (Maximized and partial screen) . Screen remained black that whole time. (this last sentence, I'm referring to the MS Windows size maniputlation, not the DA Menu stuff - like using the WINDOWS KEYBOARD KEY + UP/RIGHT arrow)
going to try that stuff now.

The Profile setting were as you suggested already (I did it the slow way!)
Tempted to write a small app to make this easier to manipulate, but I'm sure you guys will have this fixed by the time I did that. lol.

soemthing to do with
GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 0 GstRender.PostProcessQuality 2
