DA:I won't launch in EA app

In the new EA app, Dragon Age Inquisition won't launch.  Worked perfectly fine in the Origin app.  Please fix the EA app so I can play the game I payed money for.

  • I managed to make a ticket after only being offered a phone line for so long so hopefully someone emails me with a solution.

I am in Australia as well as surely this is covered under consumer law here. You can't sell a digital product and then not be able to use it due to and error that states it's on their end?

Surely they can unlock the .exe file so it doesn't have to go through ea or origin apps to open !?

@EmthePixelPixie I think Owl was referring to a new windows user profile, creating a new EA profile would not be a solution (as you would then need to purchase the game for that profile).

You didn't get the chat option at all? Has been a while since I've needed to contact support (other than for swtor which I think is a separate thing), chat was always an option back then (as long as it was a time and day they'd be there).

It is doubtful they will unlock the exe file (effectively removing their own DRM), hopefully they will fix the EA app so all games work on it.

Let us know how you go with support, and don't let them try to send you back here (but also remember it's not the support persons fault that there are issues with the app).

Yeah just make a new user account.

Go to Settings >Accounts>Family & Other Users>Add Someone Else to this pc

Then make a new user account. Make sure to give it Admin rights.

Sign out of the main account & into the new account.

  • If it's that simple (it worked for me) why is it so hard for them to come up with a fix so we dont have to do that? It's obviously something to do with the account since it works on another account with the same install.

is there something we can delete, or some registry thing we can fix or take out?

EDIT: nevermind, making a new windows account it worked once. after logging back into it later it now also says that the game is already running. wtf

  • any solution for this? been almost 3 weeks and no reply from EA support at all. ive uninstalled/reinstalled, restarted pc, redownloaded/delete all games clear cashe, run as admin and always checked task manager and the same pops all the time with every game not just inquision. why couldnt we just keep damn origins never had a single problem till this * got forced on us and every week i come with some new bs to deal with.

I actually had the same problem and tried all the possible solutions, apart from making a new user, because I'm not cluttering my system with a random user just to play one game.  What finally did work for me was launching the game through Frosty Mod Manager. I'm guessing the launcher bypasses something that blocks the EA app, but I haven't looked into what it might be. I'm just happy I can play the game again.

  • What worked constantly for me is changing the time of my PC. AM to PM and it works.

    Every time.

It was working 12 hours ago.

I've done all of the steps for drivers and hardware from what I can see, I've repaired and set as admin and turned things back off.

It says "preparing game", flicks a tall rectangle EA app window open, says preparing game again, and then acts like I never clicked play.

    dxdiag attached.
