Dragon Age Inquisition Crashes on Startup

Symptoms:

When I launch the game, my desktop goes white with a black window for about 1-3 seconds then nothing. 

Before yesterday, the last time I had opened the game  was November 18th, and it was working.  I had pre-ordered it, pre-downloaded it, then on release day, I fooled around with the character creater for about an hour before going back to Dragon Age 2 to finish it off first.  I finally got the time to finish DA2, tweaked my Tapestry, and attempted to play DA:I, but cannot due to this issue.

My system is well within the minimum hardware requirements...

Please help!

System:

i5 4690k with Corsair H60 cooler running at stock speed

Gigabyte Z97X G1 Gaming 5

16GB Gskill 2400mhz Ram

dual 'reference' PNY Nvidia GTX 970 in SLI (all default clock speeds) that I have seen no issues with.

128GB Kingston Hyperion SSD (NOT where the game is installed)

Windows 7 64bit

Troubleshooting steps performed:

- Disabled Origin In-Game (did this first day to fix the slow loading problem)

- Re-enabled and diabled it multple times more.

- Tried multiple graphics drivers - 344.65, 344.75 and even a 'hotfix' 344.80

- Disabled SLI

- Verified game file integrity

- Rebooted after making any changes

- Deleted game install folders and the save folders in My Documents, then re-installed

- Ensured all system drivers were up to date

- Updated Logitech G510 drivers

- Turned off all non-essential task bar programs

- Rebooted after every change and tried again

- Turned UAC down

- Attemped to 'Run as Administrator'

- Updated Windows

- Deleted Origin folder in my profile and forced it to re-verify everything.

    OK So I've still been playing around with it and I got it working finally.  I have opened and closed the game three times as of now with no issues.  It is running with the Nvidia 344.75 drivers SLI enabled.

    If anyone else is having the same issue, please ensure Microsoft windows is up to date with patches.  I just ran windows update I had 41 new ones since the last time I ran it - sometime around november 18th.

    If this breaks again I will post an update.

    EDIT:

    Ok so I opened the game, started going through the settings, went back to the main screen an BAM - frozen.  Oh and this was AFTER Origins froze and I had to restart it...

    Situation improved?:  Yes.  Playable?: Not like this...

    Just FYI Origins does nothing but crash my game.  I have to play offline for a smooth gameplay experience.  You might want to disable your connection while playing if it starts to happen again.  HTH

    Thanks for the tip!

    I've just playing the beginning and so far no crashes without being in offline mode.  Only issue was flickering of the snowy rocks which was solved by disabling vertical sync in-game and forcing it through driver profiles.

    New day, old problem....

    Absolutely nothing on my PC has changed since yesterday yet today I am back to square one.

    I submitted a ticket through their little app that comes with the game two days ago.  I still haven't gotten any sort of reply.

    Do I feel cheated at this point?  You bet your **bleep** I do.  It's been a long week, I have some time to really dive into this game without my wife or kids bothering me and I can't.  Not because of any emergency.  Not because my computer is broken, or too old to run it.  But because the game won't start.  A brand new game, playing on 2 month old hardware, simply gives me a black window and crashes.....

    This is simply unacceptable EA.  This game is obviously extemely flawed and should have been tested far more extensively before being released.  I am sorely tempted to simply ask for a refund and never again purchase a game that you put your name on.

    I'm having the same problem on the PS3. I've finshed my first playthrough and everytime I try to start a new game once I get through the gender/race/class/world state import thing it freezes up and crashes my PS3. 

    I don't have this problem on my Xbox 360 however.

    I have the same issue, my system is well within the specs. 60 fps on high settings. However after 12 hs of gameplay i simply cannot launch the game anymore. I reinstalled al vcredist, the dx, drivers are up to date, windows is up to date, resetting prefernces by deleting saves folder helped for 15 mins.

    Running windows 8.1 N x64 qith a 4gb r9 270x 16gb ram, i5 4670k. The only detail I've noticed between initial launch and now is that initially it used 10gb of ram now it is down to 6.

    Even redownloaded the game for my lols... Disabled origin Interface. Almost out of options ☹️.
