Dragon Age Inquisition GOTY Fails to Activate

I tried playing around with editing (well, adding) DisplayName in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\Games\{appid}\ and that didn't seem to help. My error is 'can't connect to origin servers to activate DisplayName missing from registry'.

Just got off the help desk with a "Game Advisor" for EA. they said to do the following:

1. Uninstall the game

2. open a cmd prompt as an admin and type: sfc /scannow

3. wait for the scan to complete and reinstall with origin

4. launch game and enjoy the show (ok, so I added this part)

Anyway, I'm NOT a techy and I'm still in the process of reinstalling, so I have no idea if it will work (or do anything useful at all really), but its worth a shot.

My next step will be a refund, which I was told I have 9 days from purchase to secure. I suggest everyone with this issue do the same. Refund I mean. If they cant release a properly functioning product, then spend your money elsewhere. After all, Fallout 4 will be out soon right?  :P

Same * just happened to me, ive re downloaded and validated and talked to EA "support"

The guy literally gave me the google response and took so god damn long to reply

Was really looking forward to playing this game...

I have the same problem. Bought the game today, won't activate. Paid 60 dollars for an error message.

How can a launch be this F*&ked up?

Same problem here, and it took me so god damn long to download all those files I'm not really in the mood to do it again in order to get the exact same problem in the end.
I'm just hoping someone would find a solution and help us all out, 'cause I don't really trust support.

i ended up reinstalling windows - formatted my computer and everything

reinstalled origin 

reinstalled the game - probably for the 6th time ("support" wanted this) 

same frigging error message.

give it a couple of days then request a refund I suppose. 

How long is the refund period?

Apparently refunds will only be given up to 24 hours after the game is 'launched', and Origin claims I've played 'less than an hour' of the game.

This *might* fall under 'within 72 hours after you first launch the game', as it's a new bundle and we 'can't play it due to technical issues within EA's control'.

Same problem here.  Does getting an activation error message seriously count as launching the game?  Really unhappy so far with my Origin experiences.
