Dragon Age Inquisition won't start

open task manager and try booting the game, for me i noticed the main exe appearing for a few secs, then vanishing, but also the exe ActivationUI (inside the core folder) is loaded, and jsut sits there in taskmanager, never doign anything. Thats how it is for me anyway. You can check to see what the error is either way by going to:

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center\Reliability Monitor

It lists all crashes and such, even if it doesnt seem apparent when it actually crashes

I found the reliability monitor, and I found all the DA:I crashes, but it won't give any information about the crash, and it doesn't find any fixes to the problem :/

Well I got it work finally.  I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it from the disc while in offline mode.

Right click the game in Origin and then Repair Game. Once that process is done, run the following installers from the game folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\vc\vc2008sp1\redist\vcredist_x64.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\vc\vc2012\redist\vcredist_x64.exe

I'm having the exact same problem as all the above. I have repaired the game, reinstalled, and also ran the VC and DX updates. It is seriously driving me nuts.

When I press play in Origin, the cursor rotates a bit as if it's loading something, then nothing happens. In task manager there is a "DragonAgeInquisition.exe" process which is taking 118mb of memory. I notice that when I do click on Play, the 'activation_ui.exe' pops up for a few seconds in the task manager, then disappears. This happens every time I click play. There are no errors whatsoever.

tried what you suggested, but still nothing, oddly though, im now seeing 2 copies of DragonAgeInquisition.exe as well as ActiveationUI.exe loading into taskmanger, one doesnt do anything, the other seems to grow in size for a few secs, then they both dissapear, ActiveationUI.exe just stays there forever until i have to end the process. I just dont understand whats happening. Ive run full chkdsk and memtest, complete wipe and clean isntall of nvidia drivers, and VC++ drivers and DirectX. Ive repaired the game, ive even redownloaded the entire game, but still the same problem.

If this had been my only experience it would be bad enough, but i managed to play for about 3 hours on the 17th via vpn, then when i tried to log back in on the 18th, i get this error. Ive used vpn numerous times before. Is it possible somehow that causes the issues? ive tested it on other games, even other origin games, and they all work fine. Maybe its best to wait till my official release in the UK on the 21st before tryign again, just incase.

Is it possible that somehow because i first played the game connected via korea, that it messed up my activation? in which case, can my activation be revoked, so i can reactivate it on the 21st, if thats even an issue? Mind you reading the forums ive seen people having what appears to be the same problem as me, and they never used vpn, i just dont understand what happened between the 3 hours i played the game, to going to sleep, and waking up to try resume my playtime, and gettign this error.

Having the same problem, but i dont even have DA:I process in Task manager, just activationui.exe sitting there idle...
