Dragon Age Origins Awakening Problem

So this is kind of a weird one.

You see, I bought Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition back in the day. I actually pre-purchased it. When the Awakening DLC came out I bought that too. Now, a few years later, with Inquisition coming out soon (hopefully) I want to replay the game. Including the Awakening DLC. I installed the original game from my DVD and activated it with the CD-key, no problem. The mail I used for the account is still the mail I use today on Origin, but the game is not showing. No worries, I can still play it. On BioWare Social Network, (BSN), I can see my game and the Collector's Edition DLCs. I get to download them which is great.

But here's the thing: Awakening. Nope.. I cannot download it. When I go to the DLC page (still on BSN) it gives me the option to buy it. But I already have it!? When I go the "Register Games" I can see the "Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening - PC" says "Click here to remove registration". Right! So it knows that I own the game.. then why won't it show under DLC in-game or on the website? I cannot use Origin as that's too new and doesn't have these games under my account, nor do they show in my Steam Library for the same reason.

So my question is this: How do I get to download the Awakening DLC when everywhere I look - except on BSN's Register Games - it's like I don't own it'?

I have no idea where the Product Key is. I don't remember how I purchased the DLC. I just know I've played it and BSN has it registered. That should be enough right? BSN has the DLC registered, that's proof enough that I actually bought the DLC, right?

Sorry for the wall of text! I hope you can help me out on this one!

Best regards

Andreas

  • Can no one help me with this? It just seems weird that if a BSN account is the same as an Origin account that Origin wouldn't know that I already own Awakening. Must I enter a Product Key that I don't have and probably never got? I guess I used a Redeem Code back in the day to activate it. Usually you'd be able to download it from the "Your registered game content" page, but it's not listed there, yet it is listed under my profile:

    Games Registered to Aranicus
    •  Dragon Age II - PC
    •  Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening - PC
    •  Dragon Age Origins - PC

Why is it so difficult for me to get Awakening when I own it already?

  • Same EXACT problem. I have scoured the net for any kind of solution, and it seems that basically EA just **bleep**ed up when they migrated from their old online store to their new one (Origin). I guess they just expect us to buy everything again.

  • No one has to buy anything again to play on the same platform as the original purchase.

Just contact an EA Game Advisor using the Help Center (link at the top of the page, right-hand corner.)

As long as you registered your game/DLC in the first place, they can get your account on Origin sorted.
  • As a help to future denizens of the internet, looking for help: I too recently encountered this problem as well. The solution was stupid, but it worked: delete your installation dragon age, and install both DA:O and DA:A through Origin. This fixed it for me. Additionally, if you can install Awakening, but cant get the game to recognize it ingame, i followed this guide: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1677021&highlight=Awakening , with an addition: After you fix the Addins.xml, go into the Addins folder in your Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age location. In here are copies of all the addins you might have the game (Stone Prisoner, etc.etc.). In here should also be a copy of the Awakening installation folder, that sits in the folder you installed DA:O in (the folder is called dao_prc_ep_1) - copy it to the Addins location in Documents. An idiotic fix, but at least it worked for me.

I noticed this issue recently.  As I was going to redownload Origins and everything to play again.  Since its been years.

Noticed it didn't show up in my games list anymore.  Looked at origins and it says I needed to buy again.  So I went to look at my past orders.  And anything older then the past couple of months was "Placeholder" and dated 2/13/2014 (oddly my birthday).  But they did have unique order numbers.  But I had no way to differentiate what was the order number for it (and considering it was so many years old I deleted the receipt).

So I went to look at my Bioware page.  And it does say I have it registered under the Redeem Game Codes.

So went to talk to EA support.  They said I did not own Origins but did own Awakening.  I gave them the product code for Origins since it is in my Origin game list.  Turns out I had to Re-add my product key and register Dragon Age Origins again.  Awakening still did not show up after this though.

In the end they re-added Awakening to my account.  One of my DLC doesn't show unlocked on Origin client, but I can still DL it from Bioware site, so I don't really care to get into that (my Origin account is merged with the Bioware account).
