Freezing every 30 seconds

Hi frwiends, i could reallyy use some help
Ya see the thing is i brought Dragon Age Inquisition a few days ago off Origin and i been trying to fix it ever since. (PC btw) The problem isn't so much with the fps but the constant freezing in game, every 10 seconds or so whether this be during exploration or the inventory or menu screen (god cutscenes are even worse, freezing every 6-7 seconds). I looked up so many things online and i can't find any solutions. I have tried the following:
Playing it in different resolutions and windowed/fullscreen mod- No difference
Tried setting all graphical settings to low-Very very slight different
Tried disabling the Origin overlay-did nofin
Tried repairing game-nofffing
Turned off and on/v-syn
Tried playing it in full offline mode- nill different
Tried clearlying space off hardrive+running scans

Tried turning the Origin in game back ON with 'All games' selected-nothing
All my drivers are up to date, updated em yesterday

Never had this much problem or any game -__- not even a 200 modded Skyrim although its my first time playing this on Origin, anyone reckon it might be that or somethin?? Cause i use steam all the time and no issues there.
Oh ye almost forgot, system specs:
Proscessor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20Gz
RAM: 8.00GB
System type: 64-bit

Any help would be swell! :]

Your system specs are incomplete. You still need to tell us what graphics card you have.

The best way to post complete hardware specs is by posting a dxdiag report. Here are the instructions:

    1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
    2. You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
    3. Type dxdiag in the text field
    4. Click OK
    5. Click the button Run 64-bit DXDIAG if the option is available.
    6. If your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows or if you have Windows 10, that button will not be available
    7. Click the button Save All Information to save the dxdiag to a text file.
    8. Open the text file and copy all content.
    9. Paste the text from the dxdiag file into http://www.hastebin.com
    10. Save the hastebin file and share your link here.
  • Some of the in-game cutscene+gameplay freezing seems to have stopped a little bit now but now i am getting the stupid DirectX crash+error message ☹️

According to your dxdiag, your CPU is a dual core processor, whereas the game requires a quad-core processor. My google search tells me the i5-4570 should be a quad-core, however. Maybe someone more tech savvy like @Gorath_the_Elder knows more about this.

Graphics drivers are a little out of date. You should do a clean installation of the latest driver version.

    1. Download the latest graphics drivers for Windows 7 64-bit here, but don't install yet.

    2. Go to the Windows control panel and click 'uninstall a program'.

    3. Uninstall all AMD programs.

    4. Restart your PC.

    5. Install the new drivers you just downloaded.

    6. restart your PC again.

Hopefully this also gets rid of the DirectX error. If your graphics card supports it, you can switch to the Mantle API in the game's display settings. This may give you a performance boost.

  • Thanks that fixed the crashing but i still having stupid freeing problems :[

If your CPU really is a dual core processor, as the Dxdiag claims, then that explains the freezing. There's no fix that I know of other than upgrading to better hardware.

Ok, I guess the dxdiag is wrong then.

Could you monitor your CPU usage while playing the game? If it reaches 100%, that could explain the hiccups. Monitoring temperatures may also be helpful.

  • My bad.. i think  i do have a dual core after all, went on my resource monitor and says i only have CPU 0 and CPU1 so ya.. dual core... well i'll see if i can upgrade to a AMD Piledriver FX-4300 AM3+ 3.8GHZ Quadcore on the weekend...

I currently have an Intel i5 core, so could i change from Intel to AMD?
