Hey guys. As many of you I've encountered some problems with DA:I. Here is what happened:

I bought and downloaded this game via Origin and had some problems with launching because of the Avast. This was easily solved by excluding the folder with the game from Avast scanning and I managed to play the game normally. Then, after around 17 hours of gameplay I've encountered another problem - the game will launch but not fully. What I mean is, that I see the Bioware logo, I see the main menu and I hear the music. When I click "Continue" button (as I always did) I see the loading screen with tips and so on, I hear the music and the little DA:I logo in the right bottom corner is pulsing. Then the screen becomes black and all I see is the DA:I mouse cursor (which I am able to move) and the DA:I logo on the bottom but it is not pulsing any more and the music also stops. The only way to close a window with the game is through the task manager.

I don't understand why did it happen out of nowhere all the more I was able to play the game for few hours. I don't remember any major update or anything. I checked several options to solve the problem from this forum:

    - I tried loading different saves
    - I tried this: Origins --> Application Settings --> More --> Origin In-Game Disable Origin In-Game

    - I tried fixing the game through Origin

    - I reinstalled the game in the end

    The problem remains.

    I use Windows 7 professional 64 bit, processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 8Gb RAM, graphic processor GeForce GT 755M

It is really frustrating. I am just a casual gamer and perspective of doing clean boot or digging more into my PC files which I do not entirely understand, makes me feel uneasy. This game is too expensive for such a hassle.

  • @cendrula; From your DXdiag report, here's why the game won't start:

    ---------------
    Display Devices
    ---------------
Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

An Intel HD integrated video chip is not adequate to play this (or any other) graphics-intensive game.  Period. (Sorry to have to break the bad news. 😞)

    [EDIT] From the EA site:

    Minimum
    OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
CPU: AMD quad core CPU @ 2.5 GHz / Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz
    System RAM:  4 GB
Graphics CARD: AMD Radeon HD 4870 / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    Graphics Memory: 512 MB
    Hard Drive: 26 GB
    DirectX: 10

    Recommended
    OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz / Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
    System RAM: 8 GB
Graphics CARD: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
    Graphics Memory:  3 GB
    Hard Drive: 26 GB
    DirectX: 11

    Hey,

Thanks a lot for giving a look 🙂.

But why did it manage to work for 17h...?

The game was working fine and then it was like "oh, wait, she doesn't have a proper graphic whatever on her computer, I should stop working now!"   :D

  • @cendrula; No idea.  Games are highly complex programs that can push marginal hardware to, and over, the edge.  There are so many variables at any moment during play that tracking down why something behaved one way that time, but not this time, can be... difficult.  I could give a lot of "Maybe this, maybe that..." but it would be pure guessing.

[EDIT:  17h does seem like well into the game though.  I'm actually amazed you could get it to start at all.  What point in the story had you reached?]

I was finishing quests in Hinterlands, taking it easy in the completionist style by doing all of the side quests on my way 🙂

To be honest, I was not as hooked on this game as much as on Mass Effect (yet) so I am not that devastated with the news. I think I can survive easily without this game until I buy better computer one day. I just regret that I've spent my money and went through all if these problems for nothing.

Ah well, I will have to instal something else now I guess. Any recommendations based on my PC capabilities? :D
