In both cutscenes and gameplay my game has awful fps. It doesn't matter if the graphics are on high or low it's just terrible. It's making me really mad because I just got this computer in August and it fits all the spec perfectly. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
Just to toss in my 2 cents. 45-60fps, occasional dips to just under 40 in rain and mist. Cutscenes are still choppy no matter what.
In general tho, damn this game is pretty, I hope there is some serious patching in the works.
1920x1080, all Ultra and max except ambient occlusion on SSAO and post processing anti aliasing off, 2x MSAA, V-sync off. For some strange reason if I enable V-sync my framerate drops to 20.
I7 4790 @4.4Ghz , 290X LCS-1065Mhz/1350Mhz, 16Gb 2400Mhz ram,ocz agility 3 SSD, win7 ultimate.
1 idiot problem i had was power saving on i7 4790, the throttling had my fps around 25. Full performance mode 100% processor speed I get 45-60.
Processor speed really makes a big diffrence, 30-40% load constantly, 1 core at 50-70%. No wonder people with older CPUs are taking a hit to the framerate.
Razer cortex software helped, free to download, i got a few more frames, use it to disable background processes.

I am doing better than most, but I have got the banter/music bug bad, I have resorted to checking out the banter on youtube, I just cant get any in game.
[AMD FX-4100 @ 3.6 Ghz, GTX 750ti OC Ed, 8gb ram] Was running DA:I at 25-30 fps regardless of settings. Tried using the gameready drivers (releaseod on Nov 18) did not help as it downed my fps to 15-18. Had to reinstall old drivers from July, now Im running the game at 60 fps high settings at 1600x900 or 30-45 fps high settings at 1920x1080.
Problem is, if I use my old drivers.. I cant play other games like BF4 as it would impact my performance like 50%.
This is what happens when you use a crappy graphics engine for your games. Its like ff14 all over again, ff14 1.0 had a reallllly bad engine it ran on, so bad that even top end pc's could barely get playable fps out of it. Personally I blame this stupid frostbite engine they are using. Its even hard to mod it. You can tell its just a cheap lazy console port to pc, the lack of modability out of the box pretty much shows it.
I miss the days when games would release realtivly bug free because they were actually tested properly, remember those days on snes, ps1 and ps2 era? yeah back when we'd get games that actually worked properly and didn't have any game destroying bugs? Sadly today devs just half-**bleep** it and release it anyway. I agree that the game engine they using for this sucks it feels like its terribly optimized. not to mention the massive amount of bugs DA:I has that a release version of a game should not have. The amount of fatal game bugs DA:I has would be acceptable for a beta test, but they are unacceptable in a release that we had to pay for. Sadly this is the state of gaming today, devs half-assing everything to get your money then taking for frigging ever to fix anything. If da:i was easly modable I bet players would have mods that fixes alot of these issues. Seen it with elder scrolls and fallout games, community tends to fix the bugs long before bethesda does.
@Scyris99 - I must say, this game is not rly optimized that bad, it just has a lot of a bugs, makin it unplayable. Personally, after upgrading to win 8.1, my fps is always over 40 and I am having no sluttering, lags, or anything like that. The game is just really smooth now, and honestly, my PC is not that good ( i3 540 OC to 3,7 GHZ, 4GB RAM and GTS 450 ). And now I can say, that the graphics looks STUNNING (propably the best I have seen) and the game is now really smooth and enjoyable, I guess I am the lucky one? The point is, the optimization is actually quite good, but you must spend a LOT OF TIME until you get rid of the technical issues and make the game run AS IT IS MEANT TO BE
If anyone interested use thise tool: https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/ it helped me with disappearing npc's (sometimes they are invisible but after few seconds they appear back when i stop near them) and improved fps, windows registry editing unpark only 3 core , thise tool allow unpark all 4 or more if you got more core processor (use it at your own risk - and sry for bad english)
Here's my (old) rig:AMD Phenom II x4 920 2.8/3.0ghz, 8gb ram, Gainward GTX470. With this configuration, I'm supposed to play decently on medium, and I actually do: I monitored my frames and I get, normally, from 35 to 45/50 fps with all on medium (depending on how much crowd there is around). The problem is that every 5-10 seconds, I get a huge fps drop. Most of the time it drops to 20 fps, only few times it's gone less than this "cap". Originally, I was very disappointed, because I thought that my computer simply couldn't handle the game (even though it's above in the requirements), at least on medium settings, so I decided to get the settings to low. Result? Nothing changed, the stutter hasn't disappeared. So I decided to put EVERYTHING on low (and with everything I mean literally everything). Result? Again, nothing changed! Every 5-10 seconds the frames (that, with everything on low/verylow go way above the 60) drop to 20-18 fps. I hope there is something to try to make this game run, if not perfectly, at least decently, and not just wait for a patch. Any idea?
@Glegionar - had exactly the same issue.. slutters every few seconds.. Upgrading to Win 8.1 helped me fix that issue, now the game runs smoothly.. I dont know if there is any other method how to fix the game, I have tried litereally every possible tip I could find, like reinstalling drivers etc.. Try to go to the program files/Origin Games/Dragon Age Inquisition/_Installer/vc/vc 2012 and install that, heard that for some people, that fixed the sluttering.. If that doesnt help, your last option will propably be upgrading to win 8.1 just like I did, or wait for the patch which will fix the game for win7. Good Luck.
Interesting. I have a somewhat older system but it seems to be doing just fine (even if I sometimes want a beefier headset that would block out the fan noise).
i7 @2.8GHz, 12 Gigs RAM, DX11, Win 7 Home Premium 64 Sp1 running an single GEForce GTX 680 at 1920 X1080 32-bit (native mode for my 60 Hz display)
Game runs smooth as silk for me with only a minor hiccup ocasionally, although on my (generally high) settings the graphics push my card as hard as I ever want to see it work, and my fans get loud and pretty fierce keeping it all from flying into hot shrapnel. My cpu is water cooled.
I don't run other apps while running the game except (almost unavoidably) origin. On my second monitor I do notice that my little minapps freeze, but those seem inconsequential.

Thank you for the answer. The problem is that...I'm already on win8.1 :/ I also decided to install the updates left, but nothing changed. :/
@Glegionar - Hmm, well, try running the game in Win7 compatibility mode, and run it as admin, heard that for some people, that fixed the sluttering..
