I have crash while starting a fight with qunari on the bridge in Fen'harel sanctuary. I think that crash causes some magical fighting ability, maybe Fade Step or Lightning. First game freezes for a moment (like my computer couldn't handle it) and then crashes to desktop. I've set my graphics to minimum, open in window mode, delete patch folder and try to repair via Origin. Looks like nothing helped. For me, I'm crashing during an optional fight with demons that are protecting a chest. I have a feeling it's one of the new ability upgrade toggles causing the issue. It might very well be Lunge & Slash like another mentioned, because I have two warriors in my group (my Inquisitor and Cassandra), both of whom have the ability, and one of whom has the new upgrade toggled on for it. The only problem with that theory is that my first fight using the new upgrade toggles didn't cause me to CTD, so I either got lucky and didn't use the bugged ability, or something else is causing the issue.EDIT: I reset every toggled upgrade back to their original default upgrades and haven't had another CTD yet. Considering how many abilities now have upgrades you can toggle between, it could be any one of them, or more than one. If you toggled *any* of the ability upgrades, put them back to their originals and see if you still crash during fights.As for CTDs outside of fights, I have no idea what could be causing those, because I haven't experienced any.

I have the same problem. Normally when fighting an Despair Demon it crashes when it does the ice beam. So when I put my graphics on low I can kill it. However this time it's not possible. The demons guarding the chest, the 2 depair demons and the fire elemental, it crashes even on low graphic settings.I can't get passed it, it's so frustrating. Spending so much money on the computer and the game and they EA still haven't bothered to fix this issue which been around since the LAUNCH of this game.I also have a GTX970.

Same problem. Partial Solution: delete "Lunge and Slash" from your habilities and Cassandra too... ohh and blackwall as well. I hope Bioware release a new patch fixing this issue ASAP.

I play as a mage and my game crashes while I use Lightning or Fade Step, but I've got Cassandra with free will at my party..
I'm sure only that one of abilities causes the crash.

Same problem. I think it is an enemy ability. I had some success in standing still and not moving the camera.

Same here. Might be an NVIDIA issue. I had lots of issues when Inquisition first came out because of it.

From what I can tell it seems the lighting effects surrounding abilities is the issue. Playing as a mage spells like chain lightning and barrier are affected. Also attempting to use potions. I believe it can also be triggered by your companions or the enemy using abilities.

I'm pretty sure it's Lunge and Slash causing it. My game was crashing all the time, but as soon as I stopped using it, it stopped crashing. Try to make sure you and your warrior party members aren't using it.

I went back and removed lunge & slash from Cass' abilities (only warrior in the party) but that has,n't fixed the issue. I genuinely cant tell if its an issue with the lighting, animation, or to programing itself.

EDIT: Upon further trials, lowering graphics settings, playing in windowed mode, removing lunge & slash, or removing all companion abilities has not solved my issue.

Additionally issues that I thought were causing the CTD in battle (barriers and potion use) were not doing so out of battle.

EDIT 2: Attempted slmisfits fix to no avail.

Tried to use the amulets to respec skill points and re-issue them with none of the upgrades purchased for the abilities, restarted DLC, still crashed during battle.

I have this problem, the dlc went perfectly until I entered in the Lyrium mines where I should explode the qunari gatlok, the explosives I mean, the moment I entered that zone, I noticed the dialogues where slow, takes time to my Inquisitor to speak when I click or to interact with any item, when I fight and we end, I hear everything with delay and when it comes to explode these things I explode them and sooner or later my game kicks me out to my desktop, no matter how many times I restart the game, or my computer, it doesn't work, now while I write this, origin just finished the repair of the game, wish me luck.

Yeah it was lunge and slash for me, had Cass using it and was crashing within 5 seconds of entering a fight. It's a shame lunge and slash is such an op skill, maybe just removing the new upgrade will fix it?
