I started another play through of DAO because of this travesty. This game is a downgrade in every way tbh. We've waited so long for something I was hoping would at least be decent. But it's like they just got the industry rejects to make it. Just awful and incredibly disappointing
I can't believe I just realized. I will probably get banned quickly, but I realized the problem. This has nothing to do with the writers or the creative team. It probably is the same reason why veteran creators of the series left.
I've only ever returned two games. One of those games was The Sims 4. I remember feeling like The Sims 4 was a heavily sanitized version of TS2 that alienated me as an older player, despite spending thousands on the franchise. And what do the two games have in common? EA.
After reading several articles and interviews on EA's marketing strategies, I 100% believe that the writers had to operate within content restrictions they had no control over. If you read all the fan theories from years ago, most of them turned out to be almost completely accurate. Bioware already had its story, but it was limited in how it could tell it. This is the second time the need to appeal to their investors destroyed a series I love.

Very well said. I feel like he sanitizing point can extend to DAV as well. It feels like a Saturday morning cartoon, in the sense of of darkness, drama (ex between companions), can't be mean, etc. or lack thereof.
They decided to ignore the brood mothers and in party bickering of previous DAs.
