I disagree with the technical and gameplay criticisms, but fully agree with what you are saying about the writing and narrative.
Where DA:O, DA2, and DA:I were tonally akin to DC Comics and Witcher, DA:VG flipped the tone into Marvel and Fate: The Wynx Saga. Everything is much too bright and unrealistcally cheerful given the circumstances and the world they are in. Hard topics like prejudice, discrimination, and slavery were entirely glossed over. Trauma were dealt with very light touch or simply thrown in the background to be ignored (like Jacobus).
If you disliked what they did with the Crows, you'd be pulling your hair out like me over what they did with the Nevarrans and Mortalitasi. I picked Mourn Watchers because I wanted to explore that aspect of Nevarran society (which may or may not be influenced by my canon playthrough of romancing Cassandra), only to find that "Black Magic is cool! Undead are cute!" full on Addams Family/Nightmare Before Christmas vibes they created for Emmerich, complete with a skeleton butler whose portrayed more like a pet nevermind how disrespectful it is to the dead and just handwaved it claiming each part were a "donation." When I got to that part I was like, wtf I don't want my Prussian-inspired grim soldier of Nevarra Rook to be associated with this guy.
Ignoring the fact that Veil Jumpers exists and is mainly populated by techno-babbling Dalish (which was already a BIG ask) it really completely destroyed the world building of the 3 prior games. The Lords of Fortune's HQ Hall of Valor showing people casually chatting up fade spirits while competing in an arena further spits on the worldbuilding of Thedas.
I don't understand why companies do this. The core player base were people who played Dragon Age Origins in 2009, people who are around 40 now, people who are used to the world that was built and refreshed and reaffirmed with Inquisition. Why PG-13-ify the story for a mass appeal when it already has a 17+ M rating? Why not just create a new IP at that point? Did they stop making Batman movies just because Marvel was more popular in recent years? No.
