One general troubleshooting tip for consoles is to do a power cycle, which is turning the console off and unplugging it before trying again. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/power/restart-or-power-cycle-console
If you don't mind replaying a portion, you could also load an older save and hope the problem doesn't occur again.
