Bug Report: Rook Appearance not loading properly

When I launched the game yesterday, it loaded my Rook with an unrelated base model in the gameplay area (Screenshot 1, Bald Elf at the Jumper camp). The correct model was visible in menus only, and exiting/restarting the game did not correct it. Since I was correct in menus, I tried going through my cutscene but was stuck as the broken model. Reloading the save after that did ultimately fix it.

Today, when I launched the game, Rook looks correct in the gameplay area but turned into a bald human in menus (Screenshot 2, Bald Human in Menu). I tried reloading my save since that worked yesterday, but it turned me back to a bald Elf in the gameplay area (Screenshot 3, Bald Elf in Rook's Room) while again being correct in menus. I exited and restarted the game again, came back as still the bald elf in gameplay. I restarted and reloaded another two times each before everything realigned and I got my Rook back.

I'm playing on PC & my system is on the low side for the game, it told me when I started to keep my quality settings low. I did try changing to medium before the first incident (but this was not the first load since), but changing back before that first restart didn't help. It has been set to Low since.

So far I've seen three different models loading in place of mine, and it's always either gameplay OR menus but never both. I've waited patiently to see if it just needs more loading time but that doesn't seem to be the case, everything in the cutscene was perfect except Rook's model.

  • I've run into this problem to. If you do just go to the room varic is in and there is a mirror in the far left corner, it's the character creator and it has your character model saved. The mirror can reset it without having to restart the game until they take care of all the bugs in the game.

  • This has been happening to me! Bald,  tanner,  face is... different,  no makeup.  But I can go to the mirror and just re-save Rook's appearance,  it shows it's correct in there.  It's almost every time I log in,  too. But now,  the last day or so,  when I fix it,  it's giving me tattoos.  Tattoos the creator shows i didn't select (big old X shows none are selected,  no body paint either), but there they are on my mysteriously tattooed Rook.

I sort of find this bug fascinating.
