DAV Armor Appearance Quality Issue

Hi, I'm playing the game on Steam/Windows 10 and I'm experiencing some issues with the texture quality of an armor appearance.

The Insulated Suit comes in several colors for the different factions. The texture for the Grey Warden version of the outfit is noticeably lower quality than the other factions. My attached screenshot shows a comparison between the Shadow Dragon version of the Insulated Suit versus the Grey Warden version, which is blurry in comparison.

The issue persists across multiple savegames, in-game locations, cinematic scenes and even after quitting and re-loading the game.

  • Playing through some other scenes, I've got some more comparison screenshots - two more of the Insulated Suit, and two of the Dextrous Leathers, which also appears to suffer some visual quality problems.

The first set of comparisons is the Grey Warden Insulated Suit compared to the Crows Insulated Suit. Both screenshots are from the same moment of the same scene and show the difference in quality.

The second set of shots is the Dextrous Leather Grey Wardens and the Dextrous Leather Tevinter. Again, both screenshots from the same moment of the same scene, showing that the Grey Wardens version of the outfit is lower quality/blurrier than the Tevinter version.

I wondered if the issue was because of my computer (which is fairly high-end). But given the Crow/Tevinter variants of these outfits look high quality in the exact same scenes, I think the issue is with the textures from the Grey Warden outfits and not my PC.

I concur. Same platform, same issues. Grey Warden's armors are significantly of lower quality than other faction reskins. Examples:

  • I've noticed the same issues (I'm also on Steam/PC), regardless of the associated faction -- often gear whose textures previously loaded in hi-res. I notice it often happens when  a character (usually Rook) switches from casual to combat gear or vice versa, either between zones or scenes (or just when trying things on). It seems to be something about how the game loads/caches textures, but I can only guess.

Changing my texture settings to fade-touched helped, but did not completely eliminate the problem for me. It resolves on its own eventually, in my experience, but still annoying when I'm trying to take pretty screenshots in the moment. Sometimes zooming in on the character in question in photo mode will force the higher res textures to load in, or opening Rook's helm slot in the character/wardrobe menu, which also zooms in on the character. The results are unreliable, but this worked for me on both the Grey Warden variations of Dextrous Leathers and the Insulated Suit when I attempted just now. Both of them definitely took longer to load in than the other variations, however, and I can't begin to guess why lol.
