Character referenced female rook as a man

In the quest Fire on the Sands, Taash's mom said something along the lines of it being uncommon for Taash's to be attracted to men. This seems like it's directed at Rook, implying that Rook isn't what she tends to be attracted to. I'm 98% sure that I set up Rook to be female with she/pronouns but I couldn't find a way to check. It could also be misinterpreting this and it wasn't directed at Rook, rather just a statement but I'm not really sure. I suppose that it could also be that her mother sees Rook as male because she fights and qunari have an unconventional approach to gender. But if that was the case I feel like Rook would have corrected her but I don't know.
