Title screen, Varric doing his monologue and character creation all play sound with no problem but the second I got to the first cutscene with my rook and then into Mintrathous the sound is constantly crackling and cutting out.
Have tried every possible audio setting in game and updated drivers.

I've been waiting since release for an update that will fix the sound in the game. I come here almost every day to see if anything has changed. I can't believe why this problem hasn't been fixed yet... I will never, in any way, support or buy any BioWare game again. I've wasted over 20 hours trying to fix the problem. Nothing helps. My computer is fast and new, all other games work without a problem.
Returning back here after Patch #5. Still no mention of this in the patch notes and surprise surprise, the issue is still present.
In the meantime, I have tried upgrading my pc. I am now running the game on a brand new, almost empty SSD and my RAM has been upped to 32gb.
Audio still cuts in and out.
It is rather evident it is a CPU related issue, but since reducing the number of CPUs used solves the audio problem (absolutely destroying the game fluidity in return), it does not make any sense to me.
What makes even less sense is the absolute lack of acknowledgement from the developers.
I will repeat myself until nausea, but I bought this game in pre-order and I still cannot play it. Friends with less powerful hardware have finished it with no issue. My steam counter is up to 20 hours of pure troubleshooting.
The community managers here have vanished into thin air, and the patch notes say a typo has been fixed in game.
Meanwhile, me and many other players are still waiting to actually PLAY a title we paid considerably.

I could be wrong, but I think they've changed something, although not for the better for me. It's ok-ish, and playable, but starting a new character, the sound quality of the intro scenes (thunder, Varric talking on the streets of Minrathous) feels sharper, and scratchier. Same settings as pre-patch.
Anyone play it today after the patch, i see nothing about sound in the patch notes so doubt it was fixed.
Do you have a source for the news that the studio is being shut down? I know that Corinne Busch is leaving because she reportedly got an offer that she couldn't turn down. And there was speculation from gamers that the studio would be shut down, but I haven't found any press release indicating that.
So veilguard director is gone and the studio division is being shut down, so who knows if this is ever getting patched
So I did find a ""solution"", but it isn't optimal at all.
Basically, with Veilguard running I go into Task Manager > Details > Right click on Veilguard > Set Affinity.
I tried disabling some of the CPU listed. The more I disable, the more vfx sounds I can finally hear, from monsters to people screaming when grabben during the prologue (which were previously muted or immediately cut out for me).
Naturally, this also means the game lags every other second, because I'm basically halving the CPU it uses.
I am not extremely tech savvy, so I don't exacly understand why removing power from the game actually fixes this audio problem, but... heh.
Yeah I got the same thing stopped playing because of it. Big problem made me deaf. And Im window 11 pro and my pc is good.
