i started getting this error out of nowhere 30+ hours into the game. i fixed it by rolling back to older drivers. (i have an amd gpu. 24.8.1 is working for me, i'm on a 6800XT) maybe this can also work for nvidia or intel users.
if not, i hear lowering the shadows helps other people.
Ok, so I figured out what happened to me- for some reason a bunch of my settings got bumped to "Ultra". I went in and fixed them and haven't had the issue since.
