Like the other game I had a problem with, it is possible to bind the number pad as a temporary expedient.
What I don't get is Bioware has made four ME games and three Dragon Ages and can't keep the binding system consistent :-)

I'd do that, except I am going to need the numpad for the skills stuff, I suspect. I can't say for sure because once I realized I couldn't play the game, I haven't logged back in so that if I do have to request a refund, it will be clear that I basically spent an hour creating my character and couldn't do anything after that. That's normally what I end up doing, so that my right hand can quickly hit the numpad as needed while my left remains on the mouse.
