Pop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed

Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming. Now's the time to upgrade. Install the EA app and log in with your EA Account to find all your games waiting for you". As far as I can tell, there is no way of closing this message and so I can't launch/play any of my games in Origin. I have tried EA App twice now and do not want to use it as I had issues with it. I had issues downloading newly purchased games and some games would not launch at all. I will not use EA App if I can avoid it.

Is there any way that I can minimise this message and continue using Origin for now?

  • It's really sad, and infuriating, but unfortunately there is actually nothing we can do about it..

EA has decided to force everyone over. Even if EA App is a an April Fool's joke-sad excuse of a game launcher. They don't care.

The absolute state of this EA app monstrosity is truly obscene.

How many more replies from EA representatives are we going to see, that say "you have no choice".

They have the NERVE to tell us it's all problems on OUR END. It's a god damn joke.

"clear cache", "repair the game", literally "turn it off and on again".

    ugh. vile.

    It's a totally (removed) situation.

I enjoy a Game that I have played for decades, namely Command & Conquer, and bought the updated Remastered version so it would run on Windows 10.

All fine, no problems, albeit I had absolutely no need to login to use it, but the Game came lumbered with the Origin add-on nause.

Then they decided I needed a new thing, the EA App, just to access the same Game.

That didn't work, and refused to install.

I had to waste time finding a workaround just to keep the Origin Login working.

Then they broke that, forcing me yet again to use the EA App, which still refused to Install.

    So, I'm stuffed.

I cannot access the above, no matter what.

I'm no spring chicken, have used Computers for decades, and still have a room full of them. I know what works, and everything I have works, but not this awful EA App.

It's been like going back to the dark old days when Software was buggy and problematic, made worse by a Company who has not a clue what they are doing, and are too arrogant to even care.

Indeed, I am now convinced a rival has bought EA, and simply wants people not to use EA Games, so their own products sell more.

Hard to think of another reason that makes better sense.

  • EA app breaks games like Crysis 3; this is not an acceptable option for paying customers. And the added disrespect by EA support giving the runaround and forcing me to keep reopening my case is pretty despicable behavior. This is not a F2P situation.

  • It is not right to be forced to use a app that wont even download for some of us and doesnt work for those who do download it. I have purchased 60 dollars in games three weeks ago and still can't play them not to mention i went out and bought this computer just to play a couple games I want to play.

  • Some of my eps are digital and some of them are from disks I bought new but some of them are from disks I bought second hand. Origin used to mesh them all seamlessly. Ea app doesnt. It does not read any games I have not paid for thru the origin/ ea store digital copies. But hey, that's cool. Ea is not getting one more red penny of my money in any way, shape or form. Which is kind of bad for them because I have been buying all of the sims 4 packs that I liked the reviews on. I even bought a couple I cant stand just because my daughter wanted to play them. Not anymore though. From 2 to 3 to 4 I have spent money on the sims. But I am done. Never again.

This is garbage. Your busted EA app is still in beta, so you're forcing us to try to use a completely broken beta application in order to use the games already own and have installed.

  • @EA_Darko This is crazy. I understand the notion of moving to new app, but a lot of features is faulty, a lot of content is missing and inaccessible on the new app even content we've purchased in Origins. This feels wrong and really dissuades me from buying anything on the EA app no matter what. I've lost a lot of confidence in EA because you're handling the situation the way you do.

The reasonable approach would be keeping Origin live and on the side try the new app. And motivate people to try it out and test it for you rather than strong arming us into it.

  • all i want is to play the sims 4 and when i did download EA app it would crash the game and consistently "fix" the problem very single time. If you are going to force people to use your app, make sure that app is usable in the first place.
