How Do You ADD Friends On The EA App?

Question

So, when I type in my friends' EA usernames it just says "No Results." And yes, I am 1000% sure I am spelling their names correctly. And the same situation happens on their end when they type in my EA username. Also, the "Social" tab in each of the EA games we want to play just says to accept invites or manage the friends list use the EA app. We cannot seem to figure out how to add and play with each other, which quite frankly is a real buzzkill and it's making us consider no longer playing EA games all together.

I appreciate the help, however unfortunately the information in that article doesn't help me solve the problem. No results are found when myself or my friends type in our usernames, or real names, or email addresses. Also, while I do have external platform accounts linked to my EA account (and my friends' accounts added on those platforms), it does not allow me to import friends from those platforms. Myself and my friends have just reached an impasse here. There is no solution that we can find to add and play with each other.
