No option to redeem codes in the EA app

Why isn't there an option to redeem codes directly in the EA app instead of having to do it in Origin? I would like to be able to do without Origin by having the EA app installed, but the EA app inconceivably doesn't have this basic option.

    If you go to "My Collection", there should be a redeem codes button above the "My games" or "Installed" games

    Just had the same problem, and had to google it in order to find it (this thread).

    How the hell is the Redeem Code option in My Collection even though it's not part of my collection (yet), but not in the actual Menu?!
    Needs to be added.
