Will EA App support EA games on Steam?

Hi. Today I played Star Wars Battlefront II on Steam. It requires Origin to work. However, EA just announced that Origin will be completely discontinued later this year for Windows devices, and EA app will become the main client for EA games. And I saw this message on Origin just when I quit the game and Origin client opened.

Will EA app support EA games on Steam? Because Link2EA system still launches Origin and ignores EA app. If I uninstall Origin and leave EA app only, the game never launches at all. Will and when this support be added?

    Hi @TR-BatuhanKara,

    If the game don't use a native steam client (APEX, Squadrons as example) they will utilize EA app now, we no longer utilize Origin for Steam and EPIX games.

    Just 3 days ago (on 26 October 2022) all of my EA games on Steam got updated with a small 1 MB update. Then I looked on the game directories and found that Origin installer has been replaced with EA App installer.

    Also when I launch one of the installed EA games (I have Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order) for first time after the small update Steam performed a small first launch process, but it skipped EA app installation because I already have Origin installed.

    The next day (27 October 2022) I wanted to install EA app and try the Steam game support again. I downloaded the EA app installer from EA website. Then checked the version info and digital signature. The installer have a version of 12.29.0.5286 and a digital signature date of 26 October 2022 (the same day as my Steam EA games got that 1 MB update). I ran the installer and installed the EA app and now my Steam EA games properly show up on EA app. Even launching EA games on Steam now redirects to EA app instead of Origin. So, the Link2EA system is finally migrated to EA app.

    FIFA 23

    Battlefield 2042

    Madden NFL 23

    Sims 4

    Other games still supported Origin × Steam. Will soon take place EA app × Steam

    @EA_Atic Is there a formal date or timeline that EA is planning on fixing this Steam connectivity issue? I don't understand how this was ignored or an oversight? 

    Did your team not understand that a majority of game downloads happen through Steam? I would have thought your team would have appropriately set up this connectivity in the first place and then worked out the bugs with EA being able to support game launches on its own.

    Very confused and irritated since I just bought 2 of EA's games and wanted to purchase and play more but now I have to wait for maybe a response?

    Can you direct me to the forum or location where we can track where your developer team is fixing this massive issue?

    I am asking since I have put two comments on this support page and no responses have been provided...

    Hey there, What kind of connective issue? @HIChereskov 

    One thing to keep in mind is this is a player-help-player forum and not EA Support, we commuinty manager and EA staff try to help out as much as possible on issues, feedback and conversations. 
     
    A lot of what we do is report the issue and bugs that players are coming across in our games and Systems to our different teams. 
     
    We share player feedback and request changes o additions to any of our software.

    Hello @EA_Atic I also have the problem of the Link2EA screen popping up and disappearing when i try to launch the game. Do you have any suggestions that will help me fix the game i already updated the Anticheatlauncher but it won't help. And is there anyway that i can use origin again because im haven't been able to play Fifa for like a week already.
