Fehlercode 8C-6356 und 4C-6356 bei der Installation der EA Desktop APP

I have the EXACT same error messages. Also running Windows 11. Haven't found a fix yet - just finished cleaning the registery manually (having also run CCleaner).

No joy via Steam either

Leider sind die Fehlercodes alle noch recht unbekannt, weshalb ich einfach mal ein paar mögliche Lösungen aufliste. Teste sie am besten nacheinander, um das Problem eventuell einzuschränken. Ich hoffe, sie helfen euch weiter.

Ladet euch bitte einmal die aktuellen Visual C++'s 2022 in der 64 und 32Bit-Version herunter und installiert diese als Admin (Rechte Maustaste > Als Administrator ausführen) .

Auch gäbe es hier noch die Option, die beiden Visual C++'s 2022 vor der Installation einmal zu deinstallieren.

Rechtsklick auf den Windows Start-Button > Installierte App ...Deinstalliert hier die beiden Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 = x64 und x86.

Ladet euch den aktuellen .NET Framework 4.8.1 herunter und installiert diese als Admin.

Wähle hier unter "Run apps - Runtime" den Web installer oder Offline installer (Vollversion) = Runtime

Allgemein empfehle ich euch unter Windows Update die Option "Updates für andere Microsoft-Produkte erhalten" zu aktivieren und dann eine manuelle Windows Update suche zu starten.

Einstellungen > Windows Updates > Erweiterte Optionen > Updates für andere Microsoft-Produkte erhalten = Ein

Startet einen SFC und  / oder DISM-Scan.

Rechtsklick auf den Windows Start-Button > Terminal (Administrator) > schreibt oder kopiert hinter C:\Users\Benutzername> sfc /scannow ...und drückt dann die Enter-Taste. Es sollte dann so aussehen.

C:\Users\Benutzername> sfc /scannow

Und / Oder versucht einmal C:\Users\Benutzername> dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth + Enter-Taste. Dieses sollte dann so aussehen.

C:\Users\Benutzername> dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

* Benutzername = Euer Windows Besitzername

Deaktiviert für den Zeitraum der EA App Installation euer AntiVirus-Programm und startet die Installation als Admin.

I have certainly tried some of the options e.g. I did an sfc /scannow this morning, have previously checked the Visual C files and have tried an install with virus software off for the period of the install attempt). I also tried a "clean boot" option a few hours ago with all non-Microsoft services disabled and all start-up services disabled - which also failed.

I have found results for the 4C-6356 and 8C-6356 errors listed on the Microsoft Learn related to Win32 App development. Specifically the 4C-6356 error code returned messages related to:

- Ternary Raster Operations - Win32 apps

- simpleLocation url Element (Search Connector Schema) - Win32 apps

- Keyboard Input Overview - Win32 Apps

The 8C-6456 returned the above and a three further:

- Windows Package Manager COM API - Win32 apps

- RTlEthernetAddressToStringW function (ip2string.h) - win32 apps - relating to "buffer should be large enough to hold at least 18 characters"

- RTlEthernetAddressToStringW function (ip2string.h) - win32 apps - relating to extracting more information from the Ethernet MAC address to be stored.

I believe the one relating to the Ethernet MAC address is unllikely since I can installl the EA App on a different computer using the same router

Downloaded the 32 bit Visual C++ files. Installed. Tried to install the EA App. Unsucessful.

Downloaded the 64 bit Visual C++ files. Installed. Tried to install the EA App. Unsucessful.

Deleted the 32 and 64 bit Visual C++ files 2015-2022. Resinstalled. Tried to install the EA App. Unsucessful.

Downloaded the 4.8.1 DOT network files. Coulld not install - later version already on computer. Update history showed that Cumulative Update for .NET framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 2H22 for x64 (KB5022497) was installed sucessfully on 15/02/2023. Deletion was not recommended so no further action taken.

Recieve updates for Microsoft Products Other was already On.

Carried out an sfc /scannow. Tried to install EA App. Unsucessful.

Carried out a dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. Tried to install the EA App. Unsucesful.

Lastly had an attempt with (windows) virus protection and firewall turned off.

In all cases attempts to install the EA App were ran as administrator. All attempts resulted in 4C-6356 or 8C-6356 error messages. I should probably have made a note which.

Just seen your second reply and will check. I don't think it is but ....

It had reappeared. Deleted and another attempt to install made.  Another failure - and it had reappeared in the installed apps again. (Now deleted)

Okay... Deinstalliere noch einmal die EA App über Windows, falls sie noch unter "Installierte App" steht.

* Ich gehe jetzt davon aus, dass du keine EA Spiele installiert hast. Also zB auch nicht über Origin.

Lösche die EA App-Ordner / Origin-Ordner, sofern sie noch da sind. Eventuell gib es ein Konflikt mit der alten Origin-App? Sofern du sie hattest?

Öffne bitte den Explorer / Dieser PC (This PC) und suche hier.

Beispiele:

C: > Programme > Electronic Arts = Löschen

C: > Programme (x86) > Origin = Löschen

Klick auf Anzeige > Einblenden > Ausgeblendete Elemente (View > Show > Hidden items)

C: > ProgramData > ...

C: > Benutzer (Users) >  Username > AppData > Local > ...

C: > Benutzer (Users) >  Username > AppData > Locallow > ...

C: > Benutzer (Users) >  Username > AppData > Roaming > ...

Suche in den oberen Ordner zB nach EA Desktop, Electronic Arts oder Origin und lösche diese Ordner. Sollte der EA Games-Ordner leer sein, dann kann auch dieser gelöscht werden.

* Sollte es bei der Löschung der Ordner Probleme geben, dann öffne bitte einmal den Task-Manager und beende unter Prozesse > Hintergrundprozesse = EA und EA Background Service (Rechtsklick > Task beenden)

Gebe dann bitte in der Windows-Suche "regedit" (ohne ") ein und starte das Programm "Registrierungs-Editor" (Registry Editor) .

Durchsuche hier bitte einmal folgende Ordner und lösche bitte nur die angegeben Ordner, die zu 100% zu EA gehören.

Öffne: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software

Suche hier nach Ordner wie: EA ..., Electronic Arts, Origin und lösche diese (Rechtsklick > Löschen) .

Öffne jetzt: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE

Suche auch hier nach Ordner wie: EA ..., Electronic Arts, Origin und lösche diese.

Weiter zu: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > WOW6432Node

Suche auch hier nach: EA ..., Electronic Arts, Origin und lösche diese.

Schließe den Editor und starte den PC einmal neu.

* Als Tipp. Fahre den PC einmal richtig herunter und halte dabei die Shift-Taste bis zum ende gedrückt. Dabei werden alle Prozesse und Treiber einmal richtig beendet und beim Start wieder neu geladen.

Windows Start-Button > Shift-Taste gedrückt halten + Herunterfahren.(Shut down)

Sollte das alles auch nicht helfen, dann weiß ich leider auch nichts mehr. Und sorry für die ganze Arbeit, die du dir dann gemacht hast.

I think I have been doing what you suggested in the last few hours - deleting anything associated with EA - but will look through your ideas in detail..

I had previously looked the registry manually (after using CCLeaner) to delete any EA / Origins entries. This time I downloaded Revo Uninstaller after efforts to delete the Origin app using "Windows Installed Apps" uninstall. 

I then proceeded to delete all EA / Origin games using Revo Uninstaller. It took 3 passes in some cases. And then I used CCleaner's registry cleaner. And then disabled all non-Microsft services and all Start-up applicatiions to enable a clean boot. And then tried to install the EA app but still no success.

Will go through your post carefullly though.

So last night I put the computer that won't load the EA app into safe mode with networking and connected it to the internet via a cable .....

and the installation got past the 4C-6356 error message - still failed later but it progressed.

So a clean boot - all services except Microsoft ones + no start up services launched gave the error but safe mode does not.

Anyway to finish the install attempt stopped with an INST-14-1601 error. This happened because I was in safe mode and I fixed by enabling the Windows service required. Initially with some commands in Powershell but on later attempts I either deleted and reinstalled the 2015-2022 Visual C++  files and (I think) a repair worked as well. (Open Apps installed, click modify, then click Repair). 

This allowed the installation to continue but it then stopped with an INST-3-1920 error - when trying to install via the app.

I also tried to use the "msi" installer which also got further than previous efforts but that stopped with an insufficient privileges to launch EAbackgroundservices.exe.

To be continued but maybe not in this thread.

So success. What was it I did though?

Last night I once more booted my computer into safe mode with networking and set about trying to resolve the INST-3-1920 error using the app or the "insufficient privileges to run EABackgroundService" using the msi install method. My main focus was on resolving EABackground services using Powershell which ultimately led me to copy some files and reboot the computer as normal and try the install. And the EA App installed and is now running. I am 99% certain I hadn't "fixed" either the INST-3-1920 or the EABackgroundServices not running by doing some complicated stuff. So what was it?

There are various threads and answers about INST-3-1920 and the EA App that talk about deleting and all reinstalling Visual C++ files. Yes I repaired or reinstall those last night but I did that the night before as well and could not get the app to work. I also read threads on 1920 issues not related to the EA App.

What interested me most though was the difference between a clean boot environment - which I had tried with no success - and booting in safe mode. This led me to a discussion on some software providers saying to run sfc and dism in a clean boot environment and some providers saying to run sfc and dism in safe mode.

And as a result one of the things I did differently last night to run both sfc and dism in safe mode with networking.

Would the app have installed if I had run just sfc .... maybe. Would the app have installed if I had run just sfc in a clean boot environment .... maybe. Same questions for dism.

If clonselnsohn you try this and it doesn't work for you let me know. In my attempts there was some other things I did but I hadn't done all that I needed to do if that was the solution.

I feel happy suggesting this solution.

Other threads on the EA App issues and errors seem to work for some but not for others; very random.

Running sfc and/or dism is also a suggested fix but in normal mode which didn't work for me.

So my suggestion: Run sfc and/or dism using a clean boot or safe mode.

I actually think its easier to boot into safe mode rather than going through the steps to get a clean boot environment but whilst you can run sfc in safe mode (which may work!) you need to be connected to th einternet to run the dism /online which means you need safe mode with networking and a cable to connect your computer to the internet with a cable. And these days some people may not have a cable.
