[4/13/23] Sims 4 wont download, it says i need to buy it.

Summarize your bug hey, I have a new laptop and tried to install sims 4 again. i cant install it cause it says i need a month payment. but i bought the game from the beginning, i dont know how to install it right now. i have the Packs and can show you that i already had the sims 4. but i cant install anything cause the sims4 wont download. i bought it with orgin origanlly
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? no idea
What happens when the bug occurs? ?
What do you expect to see? that i can download the sims 4

Hey everyone,

This should be fixed now. If you're still having any trouble seeing or launching The Sims 4, please try restarting the EA app and see if that helps.

If you're still having trouble after that, give the app recovery a shot. For more info on how to use it check out this article on the EA Help website.

I'm having the same issue. I had to buy an EA Play membership in order to access the game :/

I also have this exact problem. To add on to the above report, I also purchased the game nearly at original release and own most expansions/packs. The difference is that the Sims has always been installed on the desktop and played numerous times without problem, the most recent was yesterday night around 10pm EST, making it clear the issue is caused by the desktop app.
I also found a work around for anyone else experiencing this problem but had the game installed beforehand. Navigating to the game's directory and going under [game folder]/game/bin and opening it manually though the .exe opens the game without issue. Interestingly the EA app would close/crash the moment the workaround is performed and refuse to open until the Sims 4 is closed.

@Ace_C1 I'm having the exact same issue! My game just disappeared out of my library after closing the game a few minutes ago. Your workaround did wonders, I can still play the game with your tip! Thank you for saving me from a complete heart attack!

I have the basic EA Play plan, and also have had TS4 since it was on Origin. It's telling me the same thing, that I can't play the game, and when I find it says that I have to upgrade to Pro in order to access it. I literally just bought Growing Together when it came out. Was a bit ticked off at the idea of having to pay $15/month on top of the amount I've already put into this game over the years.
I was just playing the game last night, perfectly fine.
I've attached a few screen shots. I think my favorite is the one where it shows both TS4 and Bejeweled in the side bar but only Bejeweled in the installed. I have a couple of other games (or am supposed to: Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies.) neither of them are showing up either.

I'm having the same issue as well but for me it's not just the Sims 4, It's the Sims 3, and Saying that I don't own The Sims Mediaeval either and it got rid of all of my games that I did have attached to this account.

Same for me - all my games are gone and it's just showing the download icon.

I was having the same problem, and I clicked to re-download the EA app, chose repair, and all of my game were back in my library.

If you have TS4 on your desktop, double click on it and it should open your game.
