I have merged your thread with an already existing one about this feedback.
Good to hear that you've found a temporarily solution to this feedback request.
Hey everyone,
The EA app dev teams have failed to reproduce this issue with the games that were mentioned in this thread, plus various other games.
Could it be that the issue has fixed itself for you as well, that the game minimizes once you have a achievement unlocked notification?

I wonder if the resolution might play a role.
As I play the game at 1920 x 1080p on a screen that is 4K capable.
Though to restate in my case, I turned on the EA overlay but left notifications off, and the pop ups don't cause the game to minimize no more.

@bigbossdaddyz, interesting info, thanks. Will pass it on to the teams. 🙂

I also experience this issue with every ea game through xbox game pass.
I am currently playing nfs 2015, every achievement minimizes the game but doesn't pause it.
I don't understand how they fail to reproduce this since multiple people have this issue. I also had it with other EA games and i just stopped playing them. Might do the same now.
Borderless window mode did fix these issues in the past (with star wars jedi fallen order for example, it caused it to go away), but nfs 2015 does not have borderless window mode. And frankly, windowed mode is not what i want to play in. I dont want to see my taskbar and stuff that distracts me from the game.
So yes, it is still a thing.

@Sjoerd8888, I get you. May I ask on which resolution you're playing the game? Do you have any scaling or anything? Like the previous example.- 3 years ago
1440p, no upscaling, 144hz.
I also have a secondary monitor plugged in which is 4k 60hz (oled tv), but is turned off during gaming. On the primary screen.
Also, running rtx 3070, 32gb ram and amd 5900x (overkill cpu for gaming).

@EA_LeeuwI think I have found why the EA App team hasn't been able to replicate this issue, and yet why all of us in this thread including myself have this issue.
The issue only occurs when the in-game overlay is disabled and a game is played in (exclusive) full-screen mode. In my case, I have only tried this with my EA games that I own on Steam; I have yet to test whether the games I own directly from EA have the same issue. Most importantly, achievement notifications ignore the enable/disable notifications setting in the EA App, an oversight that the team may want to fix as well.
Since the in-game overlay is disabled, the EA App forces Windows to show achievement notifications on the foreground, not unlike the Task Manager functionality of "always show on foreground". This automatically Alt+Tabs games and brings them out of focus, thus losing control of the game (regardless of us using KB+M or a controller) and usually minimising the game window as well.
You've mentioned not running a game in exclusive fullscreen as a workaround, but I have a better workaround: enable the in-game overlay (and, if you want to, disable notifications).
I can confirm this does not conflict with the Steam overlay, including Steam Big Picture Mode. However, I have found in Mass Effect LE that it will temporarily unfocus and 'freeze' the game for 2 seconds after leaving the Steam overlay (though not in the sense of crashing / unresponsiveness). I cannot reproduce this 'freezing' when disabling the EA and enabling the Steam overlay, but this side issue may not exist for other games, and in my opinion it is a slight nuisance rather than a gameplay-interrupting issue like the one this thread is about. I should note Origin did not have this issue and integrated with Steam more elegantly.
So what the EA App devs need to fix is:
1) Make "disable notifications" also disable achievement notifications, and/or:
2) Make achievement notifications not force Windows to show them in the foreground when the EA overlay is disabled, and optionally:3) Make the EA in-game overlay integrate better with the Steam in-game overlay, so that leaving the Steam overlay does not freeze a game until a few seconds after leaving said overlay.

Hey @sabasNL,
Alright, many thanks for sharing this! So it is quite specific. Hmm.
Will share it with our teams as well.- 5 months ago
Its been a year and a half and AFAIK there is still no way to turn off notifications for achievements. I stopped playing all EA games because of this, I HAAAATE achievemts having a stupid popup that interrupts me.
Idgaf if you do like them, I shouldn't be forced to deal with them.
Edit: JESUS CHRIST the * FORUMS have achievements?!?! Oh * OFF EA.
