Apex won't download on PC via EA app

Please help,  I'm trying to download apex legends via the EA app on my pc but it won't download  I have it downloaded via steam - is this the reason why?

i have this issue as well - it gets stuck at "preparing" at 42%. i left mine alone for hours, restarted my pc, etc and nothing worked.
